Polish & symmetry - both "very good" and no fluorescence per GIA report. No imperfections are visible to the naked eye.
Diamond measures 8.21-8.28x4.78mm - it is wide and shallow, so appears much larger than its actual carat size, especially with the shadow box, and has a very low profile on the finger. Its very sparkly and reflects out whatever lights and colors are around, so despite being a warmer m color, it doesn't appear that way. It's baseline is silvery white because of the way it sits in and reflects the platinum setting. In a dark bar with a few neon lights? It's an actual disco ball. A small ray of sun hits it? Rainbow sparkles everywhere. It is the sparkliest ring I've ever seen.

| Story | Handmade for me by Alchemy Jewelers in Portland, OR 2017. I still have the original leather box that I can send it in along with the GIA certificate. It originally costed $13,000 (am I supposed to say that?). I liked vintage/art deco style rings, but was unable to find the large, single stone, intended to be worn without a wedding band style that I wanted, so we had it custom made. I selected the diamond because it was so sparkly and the shape allows for a very low profile setting. Because it is handmade, there is slight asymmetry in the metalwork of the setting. It's not noticeable unless very closely examined, but I actually like it because it feels more intimate. We didn't ultimately work out as a couple, just grew into incompatible people over the years. It was an amicable ending and I still love the ring so much, but it's time for me to let it go and let it make someone else happy. |
