  • Story
  • Story A spectacularly large size natural saltwater pearl is the main focus of this Edwardian era ring designed and fabricated by the prestigious American firm of Black, Starr and Frost. The species of oyster which produced this very rare 7.55 mm button pearl typically does not create pearls as large as this one. More so, this snowy white gem of the ocean displays an exceptionally round form blessed with a fine surface and high luster. The pearl is surrounded with a diamond-encrusted open work backdrop. A total of fifty-four (54) diamonds of an estimated 1.41 carats (H-J color range; VS2 clarity) include six (6) single cut and forty-eight (48) old European cut diamonds ranging from .06 to .025 carats each. A magnificent mounting of platinum-topped 18k yellow gold is the perfect venue to showcase a meticulously crafted early 20th century era ring embellished with a natural pearl of prodigious proportion and a bounty of sparkling diamonds. The pearl is accompanied with a GIA certificate no. 5161620878. Date: Circa 1910. Measurements: 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises 5/16 of an inch (0.9 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 4.6 grams. Hallmarks: 18k; BS&F. Condition: Excellent. Origin: American.
