Platinum Antique Engagement Ring
Hello folks. This ring was bought when I "did', and of course, now I "don't". My loss is your gain.
This is a two piece set. First, the ring is a 14KW of White Gold band with 5/8TW H/I I1 diamonds. Basically, 24 small diamonds surround the large one.
The guard is a 14KW White Gold band with 1/4TW GHI I1 diamonds. 6 small diamonds, 3 on each side. The main ring fits beautifully inside it.
I liked the functionality of this ring. The girl was a teacher (small children) and the main ring by itself set low enough to not snag on things as well as look very pretty. The small band that raps around the primary diamond lets the ring look very beautiful when by itself.
With the guard on, the ring REALLY stands out. The friend (female) that helped me pick it out was shocked when she saw the two put together: "It looks like a flower!" The size is 7 (I think) but it can be taken to any Samuel's Jewelers and re-sized. I believe it is covered by the warranty which can be put in your name.
Now value-wise. It basically went like this, I bought the ring brand new over a year long period from Samuel's Jewelers. Right about the time I finished paying for it (and actually possessed it) my relationship failed. So, this ring has been tried on once and stored in its case in a safe since then. Other than that, I've taken it out to take the pictures. So yeah. Brand new.
It cost $2684 (not including the warranty) and like I said... pretty much brand new. Probably even less wear since a bunch of people haven't been trying it on. The sales lady told me the warranty can be transferred and I still have her contact info. I figure taking almost $300 off was a fair start. If you have any offers or questions, feel free to ask.

|I purchased the diamond and the ring separately from an antiques jeweler who quoted me a price before placing the loose diamond in the ring. When I arrived to pick it up I could tell he no longer wanted to sell it to me. This platinum ring with 56 individually cut side diamonds (.55 TCW) to compliment its center diamond's (1.02 TCW) exquisite color and clarity lights up incredibly in natural light. It appraised at $12,500 in Oct 2006 and I haven't gone for a more recent appraisal.
